Final top 5 of 2014 #guelphmusic

Hello! Welcome back to the final instalment of the current #guelphmusicclub collection, aka our top picks of 2014. I didn’t really do this in order of a countdown – I started in week 1 with my absolute top pick of the year, making week 5 somewhat anticlimactic perhaps. Whatevs.

My final pick is from a love-her-or-hate-her artist who I really do love – she’s criticized a lot, but that’s what happens when you open your pretty mouth and don’t really give a shit what comes out. It’s one of the things I like about her – that and her gorgeous voice. She’s more sophisticated than the critics give her credit for, and in an age rampant with mindless pop-trash, I find that a little fascinating.

Week 5 is the title track to her latest album, Ultraviolence. Keep doing what you do, Lana. I’m listening.

Need to catch up on my first four picks? Do it now!

Week 4 – Death From Above 1979

Week 3 – Puscifer

Week 2 – The Roots

Week 1 – Got A Girl

Also – thanks to @matcalverley for the invite to the club. It’s been fun. Looking forward to the next one!
